Don D. Christensen was born November 9, 1946 in Atlantic, Iowa, and passed away on October 12, 2021 in Hodgenville, Kentucky at the age of 74 after a long battle with cancer.
He graduated from Atlantic High School in Atlantic, Iowa Western Clarinda, DILWC Monterey, California and UNO, Omaha Nebraska.
Served as a comm-Tec with the Naval Security Group Emergency Reaction Force Pacific with the 1st Radio Battalion USMC Kaneohe, Hawaii.
The U.S. Naval Support Group Danang Viet Nam and Tokyo aboard the USS Oklahoma City, USS Bainbridge, and USS Coral Sea.
He finished the Pacific and Military enlistment at the USA National Security Agency in Washington, D.C.
He held a top security clearance and was a Navy Shellback.
Don was a life legacy member of the VFW, Life member MOC, Life Member National Home VFW, Life member DAY, Life member WA, American Legion Member, and Kentucky Colonel.
He was proceeded in death by his mother Inez and father Eugene and step-son Jerry.
He is survived by his wife Sheran of 38 years and sons Timothy, Matthew, Kevin, step-son David, daughter Melissa, step-daughter Sheila with their children, sister Connie and brother Gail along with their children and grandchildren.
Don worked in the commercial aviation field for 34 years and ground maintenance manager with Northwest Airlines.
His favorite plane was the Boeing 747 and his favorite position was with weight and balance.
He often pleased himself when he could outdo the computer with his pencil and paper.
He will be laid to rest at a future date with is wife in the National Cemetery at Gretna, Nebraska with Military Honors.
Don may have been sprayed and betrayed with Agent Orange, but he loved his flag and his country until the day he died having fought five different cancers.
