Ed Welch, 83, of Clarinda, Iowa, passed away Friday, October 1, 2021, at Mercy Hospital, Des Moines, Iowa. Memorial services will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 9 at Ritchie Funeral Home, Clarinda, Iowa with Pastor Marcia Cline officiating. Visitation with the family will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 9 at the funeral home prior to the service. Memories can be shared with the family at www.ritchiefuneralhome.com. Edwin A. Welch, age 83, of Clarinda, Iowa passed away on October 1, 2021.
Edwin Allen Welch was born in Clarinda, Iowa to Oliver Denmore Welch and Doris (McCunn) Welch. He was raised in Clarinda and later moved to Correctionville, Iowa, and a few years later moved again. He graduated from Ocheyedan High School in Sibley, Iowa in the year 1957. Shortly after, in 1959, he joined and served in the U.S. Army as an intelligence radio intercept operator while stationed in Germany. When Edwin got out of the military he came back to Clarinda and worked for 35 years as President of the Clarinda Company and then retired.
Edwin was a kind-hearted, loving and warming man. He cherished every moment he has ever spent with his family and friends. His favorite things to do were fish, hunt, and spend time with the dogs he had. Every life that has been touched by him has been blessed and filled with joy.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marilyn Kay Welch; brother, Reginald Denmore Welch and grandson, Broderick McCray Welch.
Edwin is survived by his son, Toby Welch and daughter, Melissa Welch; sister, Joan Floersch; brother, Gary Welch; granddaughters, Amanda and Koralee Welch, Chloe Kobes, Jadica Hearn and great granddaughter, Eaden Wetzel.
