(Newton, IA) — A wind energy manufacturer in central Iowa is preparing to suspend production at its plant in Newton at the end of this year.
T-P-I Composites makes wind turbine blades for General Electric and employees nearly 800 workers. Newton City Administrator Matt Muckler said in a statement it’s unfortunate that industry specific issues may cause T-P-I to suspend production at their Newton facility at the end of December.
Mayor Michael Hansen wrote, “In the event that this suspension of production takes place, the City and its local economic development partners and social service providers will work to assist those residents impacted.”
