(Creston) The ADM boy’s placed five runners in the top 11 and captured the team title in the A Division at Tuesday’s Creston Invitational Cross Country Meet. The Tigers scored 29-points, and Winterset finished second with 79 points.
Atlantic ended up third with 93 points.
“The boys ran their best race of the season,” said Atlantic Head Coach Dan Vargason. “I thought they ran well at Central College this past Saturday, and today I think we took another step forward. We had a bunch of PR’s, and I thought it was our best one through seventh place race of the season.”
Drew Engler led Atlantic with a sixth-place finish, and Zane Berg crossed the finish line in eighth. Alex Sonntag was 21st, Bennett Whetstone, 28th, Christian Thompson, 30th, Tyrell Williams was 31st, and Devon Fields, 44th.
“Drew Engler ran a sub-18, his fastest time of the season, and Zane Berg finished under 18, in a good field of runners,” said Vargason. “Alex Sonntag ran the first sub-19 race of his career, Tyrell Williams and Bennett Whetstone ran amazing races for us, and freshman Christian Thompson ran his best race of the season. I thought top to bottom our boys did a fantastic job.”
Cooper Greenslade won the individual title for ADM in a time of (16:36.20), and his teammate Quentin Kimrey finished second in a time of (17.24.70). Baylor Bergren of Red Oak finished third, (17:30.80), Blake Freese, Winterset fourth, (17:31.90), Terrin Timmerman, ADM, fifth, (17:34.50), Engler, Atlantic, sixth, (17:41.50), Lyle Wagner, Clarinda, seventh, (17:47.80), Berg, Atlantic, eighth, (17:53.70), Mason Bruck, Winterset, ninth, (18:01.80), and Hubie Chapman, ADM, tenth, (18:15.60).
