Paul Dean Weible, son of LeRoy Bryan and Edith (Cadwell) Weible, was born on April 9, 1944, in Manning, Iowa. He grew up on a rural Manilla, Iowa farm, attended country school and graduated in 1962 from Glidden-Ralston High School. Following graduation, he lived in Omaha and Elkhorn, Nebraska where he was a lineman and construction supervisor for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company.
In June of 1969, Paul was introduced to Vicki Petersen by his dad, who had been admitted to the Harlan Hospital following a tragic accident. Vicki was assigned to provide his dad’s nursing care the following day. His dad wanted them to meet each other. Paul took her to dinner at Cronk’s Cafe in Denison. Just days later, his dad was aware that they did like each other, and sadly his dad passed away only two weeks following the accident. Paul and Vicki became soul mates and were engaged in September. They were united in marriage on January 17, 1970, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Harlan, Iowa. They lived in Council Bluffs, Iowa and then moved to rural Neola where they built a home and started their family. He continued working for the telephone company. In 1977 Paul, Vicki, Angie and Bryan moved to rural Marne where they lived for five years and then settled into their home in Walnut in 1982. Paul became self-employed and established his business A-B Construction, burying utilities in the Walnut, Marne and Atlantic areas. Paul and Vicki moved from Walnut to Marion, Iowa in 2005.
Paul was a hard worker, loved the outdoors, going fishing and attending sports activities when he was able. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and a kind, loyal friend to many. His children and grandchildren were his pride and joy. Paul loved to shake the hand of anyone he met, and to this day they comment on and remember that firm, strong grip he had. In the 1990s physical health challenges set in, and he courageously battled those health challenges for nearly twenty-five years. Paul accepted the Lord as his personal Savior as a young adult. The Lord gave him his courage and strength to battle those health challenges up until receiving the loving care that Hospice provided, along with the prayers of many relatives and friends, which helped him pass into the Lord’s loving arms, surrounded by his loving family, on Saturday September 4, 2021, at St. Luke’s Hospice in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Paul is survived by his wife of 51 years, Vicki, of Marion, Iowa; daughter Angela and her husband Casey Jones of Marion, Iowa; son Bryan Weible of Grimes, Iowa; grandchildren: Aryn Jones; Carter Jones; Abby Charlier and her husband Darrin; Callie Weible and Jake Weible; great-grandchildren: Macie, Kinsley and Waylon Charlier; brothers-in-law: Robert E.
