(Area) Public informational meetings will be held in seven southwest Iowa counties next month regarding Summit Carbon Solutions’ proposed carbon capture and storage project.
The proposed project, Midwest Carbon Express, will capture carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions that otherwise would be emitted into the atmosphere from ethanol plants, compress the capture emissions, and transport it through a pipeline to North Dakota where it will be permanently and safely stored underground in deep geologic storage locations. The project will be located in 30 Iowa counties, plus communities in Minnesota, Nebraska, South Dakota and North Dakota.
Meetings will be held in the following locations:
Crawford County: Memorial Hall in Manilla – October 5 at 6:00 p.m.
Shelby County: Therkildsen Activity Center in Harlan – October 6 at 12:00 p.m.
Pottawattamie County: Impact Hill in Oakland – October 6 at 6:00 p.m.
Mills County: Lakin Community Center in Malvern – October 11 at 12:00 p.m.
Fremont County: The Waterfalls in Farragut – October 11 at 6:00 p.m.
Page County: Shenandoah Public Library – October 14 at 12:00 p.m.
Montgomery County: Montgomery County Ag Society Gold Building in Red Oak – October 14 at 6:00 p.m.
At the meetings, additional details of the proposed project and information regarding the legal rights of affected landowners will be presented. Time will also be given to address questions from attendees.
