(Tabor) Fremont-Mills hosts CAM Friday night in a game that will air on KSOM.
Fremont-Mills is the defending state runner-up and lost just two seniors that saw much varsity action last year. The two graduates the Knights lose are very key personnel with Seth Malcom and Cooper Langelt, but a lot returns. “It’ll be interesting to see how that all works. We are going to look at Braxton Blackburn and Paxten Van Houten to fill our void at tailback. We have a handful of kids that are going to play wide receiver and tight end, so it’ll be interesting to see how all that unfolds. We have guys up front that did very well for us last year. We are going to lean on them on both side of the ball. Kellen Fichter, Cooper Marvel, Samuel Daly, Chance Roof, Adam Perrin and we are going lean on them a lot to create some room on offense and slow some feet on the other side.”
Head coach Jeremy Christiansen knows their Week 1 opponent is no slouch. “Very athletic, very physical, they are big. We played each other last year in the quarterfinals. They will have a very good sense of what they want to do. They got athletes all over the field so you can’t fully commit to run or pass. You just have to be where you are supposed to be when you are supposed to be there. We are preaching to our guys alignment and assignment. Offensively we have to control the line of scrimmage and play a little keep away.”
Christiansen is looking for his team to be fundamentally sound, take care of the football, go 1-0 each week, and get better each week.
