(Atlantic) Cass County Health System is picking up the tab for anyone interested in swimming at Atlantic’s Sunnyside Pool during its final days of operation this summer.
Free admission courtesy of Cass Health runs August 5th-8th. Public Relations Coordinator Ann McCurdy explains how the idea came about. “It’s an idea that we saw from a different community that we really loved. It supports a lot of our Cass Health values–being a community supporter, getting families outside, being active, and taking advantage of the resources that we have here like Sunnyside Pool and our Atlantic Parks and Rec Department activities. We are tickled to be able to support Atlantic Parks and Rec and Sunnyside Pool and give families an opportunity to do something that doesn’t impact their pocket book. Swimming’s on us.”
Parks and Recreation Director Bryant Rasmussen is excited team up with Cass County Health System. “Recreation is hugely beneficial for mental health and all of those needs. Swimming is one of the best ones because it works so many different muscles. It is supposed to be extremely hot so it will help you get active and still stay cool. It’s right along with everything we are trying to push thought the Parks and Rec Department about getting people active, doing different activities, and trying new things. This was one thing that I was very, very happy when they brought it to my attention to say this is something they want to do. Absolutely we are going to jump on it and do everything we can to try and make it work.”
They’ve seen good numbers at the pool this summer. “We’ve had some pretty good attendance especially when it was hot out. I think with the pandemic restrictions loosening people were really wanting to get out so even on cool days we were still having a significant crowd at the pool.” The pool opens at 1:00 p.m. daily. Sunday, August 8th is the final day the pool will be open.
