(Anita) CAM will have a brand new boys basketball coach next season. Ian Hunt has landed the job.
The CAM graduate has previous stops at Glidden-Ralston and Exira-EHK. He was an assistant to previous head coach Nick Hodges last season. “This offseason the job opened and I just decided to take it. I’m extremely excited. We have a lot of good people to work with. We have a lot of good kids to work with. I’m excited to take over and see where the season goes.”
Hunt wants to crank things up offensively. “There’s a lot of good things we did really well last year. We played a lot of good defense and stuff like that. So we are going to try and continue doing those things really well, but we are going to try and play with a little more tempo this year and push the pace.”
A big part of taking the head coaching job was having Luke Symonds return to the staff. “We’ve been coaching for several years and coach Symonds and I had a talk about it and he’s a good guy to work with. He’s going to be very involved. I kind of look at him as a co-head coach. We worked a lot together in JV.”
Hunt says the offseason has included some summer league games and spending time implementing new schemes.
