(Atlantic) Atlantic School’s Superintendent Steve Barber says construction crews are making progress on the athletic facilities upgrade project at the high school.
“Many people are disappointed with the progress, but we have our two layers of asphalt on the high school track, at the “D” zones at each end of the soccer field, and our tennis courts,” said Barber. “So now we sit and wait for three weeks for it to cure and give Midwest Tennis and Track to come in and put the final one and a half-inch of surface on it.”
Barber is certain the project will be completed this fall. “We may not get to the finish line by August 23, but we’re going to be awful close,” said Barber. “Our kids are going to participating in this new facility this fall, so that’s exciting.”
The project includes synthetic turf, new tennis courts, a new track, new shot put and discus rings, and a news concession stand.
“We’re excited about the opportunity for our kids that the new facility will provide for our students, as well what has been done at the baseball and softball fields,” said Barber.
