(Audubon) The Audubon County Fair gets underway this week.
Ann Carter, Audubon County Extension and Outreach Program Coordinator says the Fair is back to the pre-COVID-19 schedule. “We’re excited to offer a traditional Audubon County Fair for 2020-2021,” said Carter.
The 4H Pie Auction Fundraiser and Queen Coronation are moved back to the traditional event on Thursday night.
“The Figure 8 races are scheduled for Friday night, and we fundraised for the free IRCA Rodeo coming to the fair on Saturday night, along with our traditional shows taking place throughout the weekend,” said Carter. ”
Carter says the livestock will not be marketed through the fair this year and will be conducted as a support sale, essentially the same as the traditional auction. “The kids showing livestock will be allowed to go through the ring once, and participants can offer support money,” said Carter. “We struggled to find packers for all of the species. To keep it uniform, we chose to out of fairness do it this way. The locker shortage is another part of it.”
Some of the pre-fair events got underway on Monday with the 4-H Clothing Show. The Superintendents meeting and fair preparation are scheduled for 5:00 p.m. this evening.
