(Audubon) Audubon led 8-0 after two innings and cruised to an 11-2 regional softball win over Boyer Valley on Tuesday.
The Wheelers scored 11 runs on 14 hits and two Boyer Valley errors. Their big frame was the 2nd when they sent 11 batters to the plate and scored seven times.
They held leads of 1-0, 8-0, 10-0, 10-2, and made it an 11-2 final. Hannah Thygesen and Katelyn Nielsen each had three hits. Nielsen, Jordan Porsch, and Kylee Hartl drove in two runs apiece.
Kali Irlmeier breezed through the first four innings for Audubon in the pitcher’s circle. She faced just two more than the minimum and allowed only one hit in that span.
Boyer Valley needed at least one run in the top of the 5th to avoid the 10-run rule and they came through. Kylie Petersen and Maria Puck started the frame with back-to-back singles. Alexis Obermeier relieved Irlemier and gave up an RBI single to Kenzie Dumbaugh. That was the only hit Obermeier would allow until there were two outs in the 7th.
15-10 Audubon will oppose 20-6 Exira-EHK Wednesday in Kimballton. Boyer Valley ends the season at 10-11.
