(Atlantic) The Atlantic Girl’s Track team heads to the State Qualifying Meet in Glenwood on Thursday with 13 events in the top 24 in Class 3A. The top two finishers in each event in each district qualify automatically for the State Meet, and the next eight best times, heights, and distances will fill out the 24 participants in each event.
Atlantic Head Coach Matt Mullenix says they have several options to work with when sketching out a lineup.
Haley Rasmussen is 17th in the 100 meters, 12th in the 400 meters, 13th in the 200, and 10th in the Long Jump. Ava Rush is 18th in the 800 meters, and Chloe Mullenix has the 14th fastest time in the 400 Hurdles. The 4×400 is 11th, 4×800, 13th, Distance Medley, 20th, (with three runners returning on a team that finished 7th two years ago), and the 800 Sprint Medley Relay is 24th.
Coach Mullenix is proud of how this team performed during the regular season, with many personal best performances throughout the course of the season.
The other teams competing in the meet starting at 4:00 p.m. include; Bishop-Heelan, Carroll, Clarke, Creston, Denison-Schleswig, Glenwood, and Harlan. We will have the broadcast on 95.7 FM. The first report will be at 4:20 p.m.
