(Shenandoah) Atlantic topped the field at the Hawkeye Ten Conference boys golf tournament played Monday in Shenandoah. It is the team’s 4th straight conference title.
Atlantic’s Drey Newell won the individual title with his round of 73. Jordan Greenwood, of Lewis Central, was the runner-up with a 74. Afterwards Newell said, “It was a beautiful day. I was hitting my driver and the greens. I chipped in for eagle on 11. That was probably my best shot.”
Coach Ed DenBeste said, “Going into it we knew we were one of the top teams, but we had to come out and play a good match. I thought the guys played pretty well today. It was probably the best day we’ve had the is year, the sun was out and wind was down. Drey shooting 73 is an excellent score.”
Other scores for Atlantic included Lane Nelson with an 80 (7th Place), Brayden Smith 81 (10th Place), Garrett McLaren 88, Cruz Weaver 88, and Roth DenBeste 99.
