Funeral Services for 74 year old Sharon Witt of Harlan will be Friday, May 7th at 2:00 PM at the Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Harlan. Visitation will be Thursday, May 6th from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Family will greet friends from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Burial will be at Cuppy’s Grove Cemetery in Harlan. The Pauley Jones Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Sharon Kay Witt, daughter of Lester Ross and Ivy May (Rold) Henriksen was born October 30, 1946 in Harlan, Iowa. As a child she enjoyed riding horses and helping on the family farm. She attended Monroe #3 Country School through the 5th grade, Laurel Middle School, and graduated from Harlan High School with the class of 1965. She then went to The University of South Dakota for 1 year.
On May 20, 1969, Sharon was united in marriage to Alan Kent Witt in Basel, Switzerland. To this union three children were born: Christena, David, and Steven. Sharon was an active mother and loved attending her kids’ events. After her children were grown, she worked at CDS for 30 years. On June 22, 1986, she was baptized at Altamont Baptist Church where she was a member.
Sharon enjoyed making ceramics, gardening, traveling and going to concerts. She also liked touring wineries and became a wine collector. Sharon belonged to the Red Hat Society. Her favorite time of year was Christmas, decorating her home and having her family all together. She loved when her grandchildren would come for their yearly visit to stay and attend bible school.
Sharon died surrounded by her family on Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at her home in rural Harlan, attaining the age seventy-fours years, six months and four days. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Verle Henriksen.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Alan Kent Witt of Harlan, Iowa; children Christina and her husband Brad Hemmingsen of Audubon, Iowa; David Witt and his wife Kairee of Audubon, Iowa; Steven Witt and his wife Cecily of Elkhorn, Nebraska; 5 grandchildren; nieces and nephews; other family members, and friends.
