(Washington D.C.) Cindy Axne, U.S. Representative from Iowa’s 3rd Congressional District, co-chaired new legislation to increase access to biofuels and fully recognize the environmental benefits.
The legislation titled Renewable Fuels Infrastructure Investment and Market Expansion Act would expand access to higher biofuels’ blends. Axne says the bill she’s introduced addresses infrastructure and market expansion. “These are two issues keeping ethanol and renewable fuels from getting the traction they need across this country,” said Axne. “It’s been one of the biggest barriers standing in the way of furthering the expansion of renewable fuels.”
The Renewable Fuel Infrastructure Investment and Expansion Act would authorize $500 million over five years for infrastructure grants for fuel retailers and direct the EPA Administration to finalize a proposed rule to repeal E15 labeling requirements. The bill would also direct the EPA Administration to finalize provisions from the same proposed rule to allow certain existing Underground Storage Tanks to store higher ethanol blends.
