(Atlantic) Steele McLaren, the Atlantic High School senior who suffered a severe brain injury in an accident on October 25, is scheduled to be released from the Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital on March 25.
Steele’s father, Dustin McLaren, remembers the call on that Sunday afternoon in late October.
Dustin says the news kept getting worse…
Steele made it through the night…and after about one month of fighting to keep his condition stable, he started to improve. Steele was eventually moved from the University of Nebraska Medical Center to the Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital.
Learning to walk again has been one of many challenges, but on March 25, Dustin expects Steele to walk out of the rehabilitation facility.
The outpouring of support has been overwhelming for Steele’s family.
Members of the community are organizing a welcome home for Thursday, March 25.
