(Atlantic) Below is information released by Atlantic School Superintendent Steve Barber on the COVID-19 data that is collected each Thursday.
“As you will notice we continue to have some positive cases, but due to our health and safety plan along with our staff, parents, and students our quarantine numbers remain relatively low. All of our staff has had an opportunity to get vaccinated, with the major of those who have chosen to get vaccinated receiving one shot in February. Starting in early March many of these individuals will receive a second vaccination. Since vaccinations are happening in Cass County and across the country, the Iowa Department of Public Health has changed the quarantine guidelines where someone who has received the vaccination is not required to quarantine as long as they do not have any symptoms.”
“Here we are at the beginning of March and our staff is getting geared up for the final quarter of the school year. As Superintendent I feel grateful for the ability to offer on-site learning during this challenging period of COVID. Our elementary diagnostic reading data has shown a large number of students making great progress. We attribute this to having our students in school and a concentrated effort from our staff, students and parents. As we move forward we continue to look at ways we can provide engaging experiences for our students and still ensure their safety.
