(Audubon) The City of Audubon is looking to hire a new Chief of Police.
The City Council held a special meeting on Monday night to start the search process. “They instructed to have the position advertised for.” City Clerk Joe Foran says retiring Chief Matt Starmer will stay on to help with the transition, but his last day on the job will be June 1st at the latest.
Additionally, officer Preston Harter is leaving the police department for a job with the Cass County Sheriff’s Office. Foran says the council tabled advertising for the vacant police officer position. “That advertisement was tabled because with the timing of the police academy in Des Moines the next chief will make that hiring.”
Elsewhere the council approved resolution 21-18 adopting plans, specifications, forms of contract and estimate of costs for the Water Treatment Plant and Supply Improvements. A contract will be awarded March 8th.
