(Des Moines) Drake University senior forward ShanQuan Hemphill underwent a surgical procedure Thursday, Feb. 11, in Des Moines, Iowa, to repair a fracture in his foot suffered during the Bulldogs’ 80-59 win over UNI Wednesday evening. Hemphill will be cleared to resume activity in two weeks and could return to competition in four weeks.
Hemphill suffered the injury to his left foot with 8:22 left in Wednesday’s win. He averages a team-best 14.1 points per game with 6.3 rebounds per outing. He has scored in double-figures in all but three games this season and had two double-doubles in his last three outings to lead the Bulldogs to a 19-1 record and 10-1 mark in league games.
The Bulldogs return to action Feb. 13-14 against No. 22/23 Loyola in a two-game clash between the Missouri Valley Conference leaders.
