Susan Jane Jahde, age 79, of Adair, IA, passed away Monday, February 8, 2021, at the Heritage House in Atlantic, IA.
She was born August 12, 1941, in Omaha, NE, to Ellis William and Nora Marie (Bierline) Overmyer. Her parents were owners and operators of the Adair Café for 40 years. Susan attended Adair – Casey Schools. On January 31, 1960, she married Clarence Jahde. Susan was the Tupperware lady in Adair area for many years as well as having many part-time jobs. Before her retirement, Susan worked as an office manager at Consolidated Supply in Adair.
Susan was a long-time member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Adair. She taught many Sunday School and Bible School classes, and Little Cherubs Preschool. Many of her students from church called her “Miss Sue”. She was also on the Immanuel LWML, the Adair Women’s Club, and the Civic League.
Susan loved playing cards and games, and telling jokes, and playing jokes on friends and family. Susan took up hand quilting when she became a grandma. She loved to sew for the kids and grandkids. Susan also enjoyed dancing and teaching Pam how to do the “Jitterbug”!
Susan is survived by her two children, son, Curt and his wife Lindsay of Anita, IA, and their two kids, Samantha and Chase; and daughter, Pamela and her husband Rob of Diagonal, IA, and their four kids, Clarissa, Cassondra, Rebecca, and Lydia.
Preceded in death are her parents, Ellis and Nora Overmyer, and a sister, Kay Colleen in infancy.
Visitation will be from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. with a funeral starting at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, February 12, 2021, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Casey, Iowa. Burial will be in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Adair, Iowa.
