(Anita) CAM and Audubon are both coming off of solid victories on Tuesday and are scheduled to meet in boys basketball Thursday night on KSOM.
CAM coach Nick Hodges says his put together their best full game of the season in a 63-37 victory over Woodbine. Colby Rich led the team with 21 points. “Honestly I knew we had the capabilities. We’ve had our struggles by our own causes, but we’ve also had quarantines and snow days so I was glad to see it finally before the postseason came along that we had a game where we did not everything, but a lot of stuff right.”
Hodges says it’s a good confidence boost, but it’s time to get ready for two strong opponents remaining this busy week. They’ll play Exira-EHK Friday, but the first order of business is Audubon on Thursday. “They are pretty balanced. The Klocke boys, Smith, Bauer, any given night they can hurt you. They are athletes. Their team quickness and athleticism just jumps out.”
The Cougars are looking forward to a non-conference test ahead of hitting the tourney trail. “It gives us somebody else to look at other than those same teams night in and night out in the conference. You see everybody twice and kind of have an idea. Especially with us being in a district without any other conference teams we have to be prepared to go off a scouting report and film. This is a perfect example of that.”
CAM goes into the contest at 9-7. Connor McKee and Colby Rich are the team’s leading scorers. Both average around 15 points per game. Audubon is 7-11, but the Wheelers are 3-0 against Rolling Valley Conference teams this year.
