Michael Clason, 53, of Marne, IA, passed away Saturday, January 30, 2021, at home in Marne.
Michael was born December 30, 1967, in Des Moines, Iowa. In 1969, the family moved to Marne, Iowa where Mike grew up. He attended the Atlantic schools graduating from Atlantic High School with the class of 1986.
Mike was a member of the Marne United Methodist Church where he attended Sunday school and was confirmed in 1982. He enjoyed canoe trips with the youth group, especially one to the Boundary Waters of Canada.
Following graduation, Mike worked construction for various companies in the Atlantic and Des Moines areas as well as doing jobs in California and Texas. He liked all outdoor activities and as a young teen enjoyed trapping. Mike had always been a fishing enthusiast and looked forward to going mushroom hunting in the spring. He also searched for antiques and “treasures” often walking the creek where they were discovered, and delighted in sharing them with anyone who showed interest.
Mike was an avid reader of books of all kinds and interests. He was always willing to lend a hand where needed and was very generous to others especially his nieces and nephews.
Mike was preceded in death by his cousin Dan Barger, and nephew Mark Clason.
Surviving Mike is his son, Justin Cooley; his mother, Mary Cranston; father and stepmother, Roger and Barb Clason; sister, Ann (Dan) Lyons; brother, Dan (Lisa) Clason; nieces, Josie and Hanna; 7 great-nieces and nephews; and numerous other family members and friends.
A visitation with family will be held from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m., Saturday, February 6, 2021, at the Untied Methodist Church in Marne, IA, with a graveside service following at Brighton Township Cemetery in Marne, IA.
Arrangements are being handled by the staff at Hockenberry Family Care Funeral Home in Atlantic, Iowa.
