(Atlantic) The Cass County Board of Supervisors held their organizational meeting this morning.
The Board reelected Steve Baier as Chairman and Mark O’Brien was elected Vice Chairman. The Supervisors will continue to hold their meetings on Tuesdays at 9:00 a.m.
The Supervisors set the mileage reimbursement rate at 45 cents per mile, the Medical Examiner Fee at $200 per call, and named the Atlantic News Telegraph, Griswold American and Anita Tribune as the official county newspapers. The Supervisors also approved the new pay rates for sergeants in the Sheriff’s Department.
The Supervisors also set the Holiday Schedule for 2021. The Board, in a 4 to 1 vote, approved closing the Courthouse on Memorial Day, Monday, July 5th (for Independence Day), Labor Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving Day, Friday, December 24th (for Christmas), and Monday, January 3rd (for New Year’s Day). In addition, the Supervisors opted to give two additional personal days to employees to use at their discretion. Supervisor Steve Green was not in favor of keeping the Courthouse open the day after Thanksgiving.
In other news, Supervisors Chairman Steve Baier said they got formal notification back from the Compensation Board that their recommendation is a 2-percent salary increase. The Supervisors agreed to give the Department heads the go ahead to work that into their budget.
