(Area) Spectator restrictions at high school sporting events are putting a strain on athletic budgets.
Griswold Activities Director Troy Nicklaus says they are fortunate to have had good gates during football to keep things afloat.
Griswold was operating on a ticket system under the original proclamation restricting the crowd to two spectators per athlete. Now that the initial limitations have been relaxed they simply have a list of approved names that can get in.
Nicklaus says they haven’t had many problems with enforcement. He notes fans are really good about wearing masks and social distancing. He’s hopeful to get more people in the gym later in the season.
Nicklaus calls the inclusion of siblings as a big plus, but they’d really like to be able to have a student section.
