(Atlantic) A winter storm is a forecast to impact the area starting night, all day Tuesday, and into Wednesday morning. The National Weather Service in Des Moines is forecasting a five-to-nine swath of heavy wet snow from the City of Atlantic east into central Iowa.
Todd Waters, of the Iowa Department of Transportation, said they’ve been preparing for this storm for several days.
Waters says they watch several sources to gather information. Those sources include; DTN for specific snowplow forecasts, the National Weather Service, and the Weather Channel.
Todd Waters says the heavy snow followed by freezing rain is somewhat unusual.
Waters advises motorists to stay about 10-car lengths behind the plows.
Again, that’s Todd Waters, from the Iowa Department of Transportation.
