(Council Bluffs) Lewis Central buried 15-three point shots and defended their home floor with a 66-34 win over Atlantic in a high school girl’s basketball on Friday night.
Lucy Scott led the Titans offense with 20-points. The freshman splashed six three-point baskets in the First Half. McKenzie Pettepier finished the night with 17-points, and Keely Dierks pitched in 8-points. Kirstyn Smith scored 6-points, Adrian Okertbloom, 5, Taylor Elam, 5, Grace Ruzicka, and Ashley McKenzie, 2.
Haley Rasmussen led Atlantic with 13-points, Tessa Grooms, 7, Jada Jensen, 6, Maycie Waters, Lauren Nicholas, 3 each, and Nellie Grooms pitched in 2-points.
The Titans forced three straight turnovers in the first quarter and vaulted out to a 10-0 run and 15-2 first-quarter lead. Pettepier led the charge with 9-first quarter points, including two makes from behind the three-point line. The Titans kept their foot on the gas pedal in the second quarter, outscoring the Trojans 24-5 for a 39-7 lead.
The Trojans came out in the second half and outscored the Titans 18-16 but fell short, 11-9 in the final frame. Haley Rasmussen led the Trojans in the third quarter with three-three point baskets. Lewis Central outscored the Trojans 11-9 in the final stanza to seal the 53-47 victory.
Atlantic falls to 3-4 and host Nodaway Valley on Saturday night. We will have the broadcast on 95.7 FM. The pre-game starts at 5:50 p.m. Lewis Central moves to 4-0.
