Graveside Committal Services for 69 year old Betty N Johnson of Ankeny will be Saturday, December 19th at 2:00 PM at the Oak Hill Cemetery, west of Brayton. No visitation will be held. The Kessler Funeral Home in Audubon is in charge of arrangements.
Betty Nova Johnson, the daughter of William Albert and Delores (Graham) Courcier, was born February 27, 1951, in Council Bluffs, Iowa and died December 15, 2020, at her son, Jay’s, home in Ankeny, Iowa at the age of 69 years, 9 months, and 18 days.
Betty was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church. She attended Griswold Community Schools in Griswold, Iowa, graduating with the High School Class of 1969.
On February 15, 1969, she was united in marriage to Jerry Johnson at her parents’ home in Griswold. They were blessed with two sons: Jon and Jay. They operated farms around Corning, Iowa and later near Atlantic, Iowa. They grew row crops and raised livestock for many years. During this time, Betty helped Jerry’s farm and raise the boys. Betty attended Iowa Western Community College in Atlantic, before completing her Registered Nurse Degree at Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. Betty was employed at several medical facilities, and then became a nurse at Midwest Dermatology in Omaha where she worked until she retired. Jerry died in February of 2003. Betty lived in her home in Omaha, then in 2018, moved to her home in Ankeny, Iowa.
Betty had been a member of the Elk Horn Lutheran Church in Elk Horn, Iowa. She enjoyed tending to her flower garden and watching the Creighton University sport teams. But her greatest pleasure was spending time with her grandsons.
Preceding her in death was her husband, Jerry Johnson, and her parents.
Survivors include her sons: Jon and wife Heidi Johnson of Omaha, Nebraska, and Jay and wife Nanci Johnson of Ankeny, Iowa; her grandsons: Jethro Johnson of Omaha, Nebraska, and Jason, Justin, and Joshua Johnson, all of Ankeny, Iowa; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
