(Harlan) Harlan Community School District students will return to 100-percent in-person learning following the Christmas Break.
“During the last board meeting we evaluated our numbers to see what things looked like in terms of absences, staff, and students in quarantine after returning from the Thanksgiving Holiday,” explained Harlan Schools Superintendent Lynn Johnson. “The numbers looked phenomenal. We’re the lowest we’ve been in terms of an entire district.”
Johnson says at one time the district considered going to hybrid learning after the Thanksgiving Holiday if staffing and quarantine problems showed up. But it didn’t, so Harlan School District students will all return to the classroom five days a week following the Christmas break.
In other activities; the Harlan School Board accepted the resignations of Alexis Sherer, Elementary Food Services, and James Shughart, High School Ag. Teacher. The board approved the contracts for Sarah Leftwich, Part-time custodian, and Diane Mumm, Elementary Food Services.
