(Elk Horn) After the Holiday Break the Exira-EHK School District will go back to having five days of in-person school per week instead of four.
Wednesday’s so far this year have been used as a distance learning day. That will change when students come back from break. “We looked at different options and what the board came up with is we are going to go back to school on site five days. Wednesday’s are going to be a 1:00 dismissal to allow the afternoon for our teachers to work with with remote learners.”
Superintendent Trevor Miller says when it came down to it, the number of remote learners was very low. “They looked at how many students we have going remote and a lot of our students are actually on site. There wasn’t a lot of discussion. We wanted to do what is best for our district and our kids so that’s the plan we came up with.”
Miller says the staff is focused on finishing out the week strong as Holiday Break begins after school on Friday. “It’ll give our staff a chance to have a full two week break. They’ve earned it and it will be good to step back and spend some time with family and friends.”
The board approved two new hires during their meeting on Monday. Jessica Allen will serve as an Instrumental Music teacher and Brianna Sampson has been hired as a Paraeducator.
