Robert Edward Feilmeyer was born on March 5, 1938 to Edward and Marcella Feilmeyer in Guthrie Center, Iowa. He died at home on November 29, 2020 at 82 years of age.
Robert was a family man first – a loving father to his four children and dedicated husband to his wife Kathryn. They spent their adult life in Guthrie Center, where he was a lawyer, as well as a champion for the community.
He was a life-long member of St. Mary’s Parish, a member of the original planning and zoning board in Guthrie County, a member and past president of the Lions Club, member and past president of the Board of Directors of the New Homestead, and a volunteer for Legal Aid of Iowa. A true man of service, he rarely turned down clients – even if they couldn’t afford his legal work.
Robert is survived by his twin brother Ron (Marlene) Feilmeyer, wife Kathryn, and his loving children Jeremy (Tricia) Feilmeyer, Maria (Jeffrey) Morrow, Ann (Kyle) Ledbetter, John Mark (Paul) Feilmeyer; and grandchildren Maia, Eva, Patrick, Robert, John, Nicholas, and Anna Therese Morrow; Eliza, Nicholas, and Alexander Ledbetter; and William and Kathryn Feilmeyer-N’guessan. Robert was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Marcella Feilmeyer, and his sister Marlene Stangl.
Private services will be held on Wednesday, December 2nd, 2020 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Guthrie Center. Guests are invited to pay their respects at the burial at Resurrection Cemetery at 11:30 AM.
The family requests that all guests keep social distance and wear masks while attending the graveside service.
