(Red Oak) Absentee voting starts today for the Special Election on December 15, 2020, to fill the District #1 seat on the Montgomery County Board of Supervisors.
On October 21, the Supervisor Appointing Committee appointed Charla Schmid to fill the seat. On November 2, the Montgomery County Auditor’s Office received a petition calling for a Special election to fill the vacancy. Republican Steve Berendes and Democrat Charla Schmid have both filed papers.
The Auditor’s Office hours are Monday-Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for in-person voting. The last day to request and vote an absentee ballot in-person at the Auditor’s Office is Monday, December 14, 2020, with proof of identification before voting. Eligible voters must reside in District #1.
Absentee request forms are available on the County Website at montgomerycountyia.gov or the Auditor’s Office. Request forms will have to be completed before receiving an absentee ballot. Request forms can be dropped off at the County Auditor’s Office or in the official county drop box located at the courthouse.
