(Harlan) The Harlan School Board discussed the district’s face mask guidelines during Monday’s meeting.
Schools Superintendent Lynn Johnson said the masking guidelines are evaluated continuously and modified during the first part of the school year. Johnson says the district is looking at more stringent guidelines when students and staff return from the Thanksgiving break.
“As we move into this holiday season, students and staff could potentially be exposed to persons outside of their immediate family,” explained Johnson. “As influenza heightens, we’re probably looking at a few weeks of more stringent masking guidelines.”
Currently, students are allowed to remove face coverings when social distancing is possible. Johnson, this may change to masks usage even where it is possible to social distance.
