DeJoy Finken, 94, of Harlan, Iowa, passed away November 16, 2020.
A private family funeral service will be held Thursday, November 19 at 11:00 a.m. at Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Harlan. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Earling.

DeJoy Finken, daughter of Thomas Armond and Delilah (Utley) Ogden was born on May 1, 1926 in Delta, Utah. She attended school in Delta, Utah where she graduated from high school. She attended a year of college in Ceda City, Utah.
After meeting Victor Finken at a PW Camp in Ogden, Utah, they were united in marriage on August 8, 1945. To this union twelve children were born Gerald, Judy, Shirley, Duane, Kay, Diane, Ruth, Debra, Audrey, Keith, Beverly, and Patti. DeJoy was a skilled seamstress, and made her family many things with her sewing and knitting. She was a member at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Earling and a 70 year member of the Catholic Daughters in Earling.
DeJoy loved gathering her family and friends, she was always organizing reunions, get togethers and picnics. In her younger days, her and Vic would walk bikes up canyons and ride them back down. She enjoyed reading over watching television, working on crossword puzzles and word searches, and playing cards and games.
DeJoy died on Monday, November 16, 2020 at Elm Crest Retirement Community in Harlan, Iowa, attaining the age of ninety-four years, six month, and fifteen days. In addition to her parent, she was preceded in death by her husband Vic Finken, children Gerald, Beverly, and Patti Finken, siblings Harold Ogden, Meith Ogden, and Arland Ogden.
She is survived by her children Judy Buckley of Earling, Iowa; Shirley Leonard of West Des Moines, Iowa; Duane (Marti) Finken of Earling, Iowa; Kay (Dave) Kurcz of Papillion, Nebraska; Diane (James) Dunham of Conway, South Carolina; Ruth (Larry) Asbury of Pearcy, Arkansas; Debra (Richard) Hudkins of San Antonio, Texas; Audrey (Steve) Henscheid of Newton, Iowa; Keith (Judy) Finken of Defiance, Iowa; 18 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; siblings Beth (Dwight) Maxfield, Jean (Gary) Steele, Glen Ogden, Lorraine Ogden; sisters-in-law Marlene Ogden, Edna Finken, Florence Finken, Pat Finken, and Mildred Retz; nieces and nephews; other family members and friends.
