(Massena) The Massena City Council received a request and recommendation from CAM School’s Principal Larry Hunt for a three-way stop at 6th and East Cedar Street at Monday’s meeting. Larry Hunt asked the Council to consider the stop sign for the students’ safety, having to cross multiple times a day due to COVID-19.
“The students have to cross the intersection for recess on the practice field,” said Massena City Councilman Doug Venteicher. “It appears the consensus of the Council is to try it for a while to see what happens.”
Venteicher says the request will go through a public hearing and several readings before it is official.
In other business, Venteicher said the City’s Lagoon project is on schedule and slated for completion sometime in 2021. In addition to that, the City Park restroom project is nearing completion. The new facility will open as soon the weather turns warm next spring.
