(State) The Iowa Association of Track Coaches has named a girls and boys cross country coach of the year in each class along with several at large coaches of the year.
Local honorees include AHSTW coach Jenny Hamilton and ACGC coach Colin Shawgo. Hamilton led the Lady Vikes to a runner-up finish in the conference, championship at the state qualifying meet, and 6th place performance at state. Shawgo guided the Charger boys and girls teams to top five state finishes.
Shawgo was one of several West Central Activities Conference coaches to be recognized. Kelley Grothus, of Madrid won 1A Boys Coach of the Year. Ogden’s Ryan Koblisa and Earlham’s Dion Braet and Marty Dalton were each at large selections among Class 1A boys. Additionally, Andrew Hamer, of DM Christian, was a 2A boys at large choice.
