(Audubon) #3 Audubon downed Newell-Fonda 28-6 in Audubon Friday night. The unbeaten Wheelers move within one win of a return trip to the dome.
The Wheelers utilized their quarterback running game time after time. Gavin Smith carried 37 times for 255 yards and three scores. He also completed 3/6 passes for 23 yards and a TD.
Smith was up for the task on defense too with a team leading 7 tackles. Ethan Klocke, Gavin Larsen, and Joey Schramm all recorded 6.5 stops. The Wheelers outscored the Mustangs 14-0 in the first quarter and 14-0 in the third quarter.
Audubon and St. Mary’s, Remsen have met four times of the last three seasons. Each team has won two meetings.
