(Lawton) Riverside went on the road and bounced Lawton-Bronson 26-24 Friday night, continuing a resurgence for the Bulldogs. They improve to 8-1 with their sixth consecutive victory.
The group’s victories seem to be getting more and more impressive each week as they’ve made their way to what many people view as the true playoff field with just 16 teams remaining in each class. A 13-6 fourth quarter advantage propelled the Bulldogs into the 2nd round and sent the Eagles home.
Coach Darrell Frain’s squad racked up 375 yards of offense with 197 through the air and 178 on the ground. Austin Kremkoski continues to make big plays with his arms and legs. The junior QB tossed four scores and connected on 13 of his 21 passes. He ran 16 times for 88 yards. Rhett Bentley was an asset on the ground as well as in the passing game. Bentley ran 17 times for 106 yards and caught five balls for 45 yards and a score. Other Kremkoski TD tosses went to Drake Woods, Caden Manzer, and Brogan Allensworth. Allensworth had four grabs for 91 yards while Woods supplied the longest scoring play with a 44 yard TD catch. Manzer racked up a dozen tackles.
Riverside’s only loss of the year was to St. Albert by a 21-14 final way back in Week 3. Time will tell if the Bulldogs get another shot at the Falcons. A new pod grouping is do out Saturday by the IHSAA.
