(Atlantic) Iowa U.S. House District 3 Democratic Congresswoman Cindy Axne met with the media following a round table discussion with restaurant owners this past week. Cindy Axne is seeking a second term in the House.
Axne says looking back at her first term in office she is most proud of getting the flood victims much-needed assistance. She says that was a big win along with changing policy to cover uninsured grain storage bins
Congresswoman Axne says the other major accomplishment was getting through the USMCA (United States-Mexico-Canada Trade Agreement). Axne says she fought hard while at the same time making sure it covered all issues facing Iowans, not only those involved in agriculture but manufacturing as well.
Congresswoman Axne says another accomplishment is her ability to work on both sides of the aisle. The U.S. Chamber of Commerce endorsed Axne as the most bi-partisan member of the Congressional delegation.
Axne says if re-elected, she wants to fix healthcare. She says healthcare cannot be tied to jobs.
Former Iowa U.S. House District 3 Republican Congressman David Young is opposing Axne in this race. Axne defeated Young in the 2018 election.
