(Audubon) Audubon’s return to the football field for the first time in a few weeks was a very successful one. The Wheelers cranked things up in the 2nd and 3rd quarters to beat Bedford 55-0. Forty-one of the team’s points came in the middle two frames as they improve to 6-0 on the season.
Bedford was held to 149 yards of offense. It’s Audubon’s third shutout. They’ve given up just 22 points in six games. Joel Klocke was in on a team high 11 tackles. Cooper Nielsen, Ethan Klocke, and Garrett Christensen registered six stops each.
Gavin Smith was the main playmaker on offense. The junior QB threw for 147 yards on 11/13 completions with four TD’s. He ran 16 times for 135 yards and three scores. Braden Wessel took his only carry of the night 46 yards for a score while Evan Alt and Ethan Klocke also had one rushing TD apiece. Ethan Klocke was on the receiving end of a couple TD’s. Joel Klocke and Garrett Christensen each caught one touchdown. Ethan Klocke led the team in receptions with five. Garrett Christensen led the team in receiving yardage with 57.
The Wheelers have outscored their last three foes 215-7. We’ll have their game with East Mills on the air next Friday night. The Wolverines beat Lenox 41-16. In picking up the victory, East Mills avenged a regular season (34-29) loss and won their fourth straight contest to improve to 5-3. Their only losses since their season opener have been to ranked teams Fremont-Mills and CAM.
