(Atlantic) The Atlantic Police Department continues the Pink Patch Project to promote awareness for breast cancer, as well as other forms of cancer.
Atlantic Police Sergeant Spencer Walton said during the month of October, known as Breast Cancer Awareness Month, officers may be seen wearing pink uniform patches on their duty uniform.
“We’re doing that just to kind of help support the cause, but also to create discussion and conversation about people getting out there, getting tested and being aware of breast cancer, really all forms of cancer,” said Sergeant Walton. “So, our officers are wearing the patches and then we’re selling the patches for $10 apiece and basically it’s a fundraiser and through the Pink Patch Project we can choose where the proceeds go and because we like to keep things as local as possible we chose to team up with the Cass County Relay for Life to donate the funds raised to their organization to benefit the American Cancer Society.”
The pink patches can be purchased at the Atlantic Police Department, Atlantic City Hall and the Atlantic Chamber of Commerce during normal business hours.
