(Anita) The CAM Cougars have run the table in the 2020 regular season. Granted the team did have an idle week, they topped everyone they faced over the last seven weeks including upset minded Stanton/Essex by a final of 34-20 on Friday night.
The Cougars led 8-6 after the first quarter and 16-12 at halftime. The only score for either side in the 3rd quarter was a CAM safety to push the lead to 18-12. CAM outscored Stanton/Essex 16-8 in the fourth to finally gain just a bit of separation.
Lane Spieker toted the rock 28 times for 102 yards and a score in Week 7. He also found the end zone on a 65 yard punt return. Cade Ticknor added a touchdown run on four carries for 12 yards. Colby Rich hauled in a 36 yard TD from Ethan Arp who was 3/8 for 44 yards.
Joe Kauffman intercepted a pass and made 9.5 tackles. Connor McKee’s 11 tackle night included 8 solos. Spieker notched 8 stops and Jaxson Bell registered 7.5.
