(Council Bluffs) One person died, and another person was injured in a vehicle versus motorcycle accident in Council Bluffs.
Police say the accident happened on Southbound Interstate 29 at around 3:00 p.m. on Monday near the 53-mile marker on southbound Interstate 29 near the 9th Avenue Exit. The adult male driving the motorcycle was transported to Nebraska Medicine, where he died. The female passenger was taken to Nebraska Medicine with non-life-threatening injuries. Both occupants are from Tennessee.
Witnesses told authorities a group of three motorcycles were southbound on I-29 in the inside lane when a suspect vehicle let the first motorcycle pass and then merged over, striking the second motorcycle forcing it into the median where it struck a guardrail. The vehicle fled the scene.
The suspect vehicle is a small and light blue. If anyone was in the area and saw the accident or you have any information, they are asked to call the Council Bluffs Police Traffic Unit at 712-328-4948.
