(Des Moines) Gas prices fell slightly according to the latest weekly fuel report released on Wednesday.
Prices were down $.01 from last week and .37 cents lower than one year ago. The cost of regular unleaded gasoline averaged $2.09 per gallon across Iowa according to AAA. The national average price for a gallon of gas is $2.19, down $.01 from last week’s worth.
The price of global crude oil fell this week on the West Texas Intermediate by $.53 per barrel over last week, currently priced at $39.53. Brent crude oil landed at $40.73 per barrel, down $1.04. One year ago, WTI crude sold for $54.07, and Brent crude was $60.99.
Retail diesel prices in Iowa fell $.01 this week with a statewide average of $2.19. One year ago, diesel prices averaged $2.85 in Iowa. The current Iowa diesel price is $.20 less than the national average of $2.39.
Wholesale ethanol held steady at $1.29.
Natural gas saw the most significant decline in the latest weekly report. According to the Henry Hub reporting site, Natural Gas is at $2.53, $.33 less than one week ago.
