(Clarinda) (1-2) Clarinda matches up against (2-1) Atlantic in a Class 2A District 9 football game at Glenwood on Friday. The Cardinals enter the contest with momentum after posting a 49-6 win over Red Oak in District play last week.
Clarinda Head Coach Colin Bevins says the team is just now getting into playing shape after having a late start because of COVID-19.
Cardinals’ quarterback, Wyatt Schmitt, steps into the position as a sophomore, replacing Michael Shull, who is now playing wide receiver. Schmitt is 28/56 passing for 401 yards and four touchdowns. Coach Bevins likes what he sees in his young quarterback.
When asked about facing Atlantic, Coach Bevins compliments the Trojans running game.
Atlantic enters the contest with 774 total yards of offense, 449-yards rushing, and 325 passing. The Cardinals have rolled up 718 yards of offense, 407 passing, and 311-yards rushing.
We will have the broadcast on 95.7 FM and KS957.com.
