(Avoca) AHSTW topped fellow Western Iowa Conference power Logan-Magnolia by four points to win the girls portion of the AHSTW cross country meet on Tuesday.
The Lady Vikes scored 49 points and put all five of their scoring runners in the top 25. Julia Kock placed 7th, Holly Hoepner 8th, and Chloe Falkena 9th. Other scorers included Jade Draman in 16th and Kailey Jones 23rd.
Logan-Magnolia’s 53 points earned runner-up honors. The Panthers had the individual champion with Courtney Sporrer crossing the line in 19:49. Sporrer finished over 30-seconds ahead of runner-up Reese Duncan, of St. Albert.
Treynor took 3rd as a team with Clara Teigland leading the Cardinals as the 4th place individual.
Georgia Paulson’s 3rd place run helped Underwood end up 4th in the team scoring.
One point separated Audubon and Exira-EHK for 5th and 6th.
Audubon’s top finisher was Hannah Thygesen in 6th. Katelyn Nielsen placed 15th for the Wheelers.
Exira-EHK was led by Camryn Paulsen in 28th and Ella Petersen 29th.
Griswold and Riverside were each in the field, but didn’t have a team score. The top Tiger runner was Maddy Main in 33rd. Riverside teammates Becca Cody and Stormy Noble finished back-to-back at 21 and 22.
