(Atlantic) Atlantic Mayor Dave Jones and the Atlantic City Council honored Sandy Walter at Wednesday’s City Council meeting for her 20-years of service with the Atlantic Waste Water Treatment Plant.
Sandy Walter joined the Department in July 2000. Plant Superintendent Tim Snyder wished to recognize Sandy for her years of outstanding service in ensuring the plant’s compliance with state and federal regulations as she has managed the lab and testing of the effluent.
Effluent Guidelines are national standards for industrial wastewater discharges to surface waters and publicly owned treatment works (municipal sewage treatment plants). The guidelines issued are existing sources and new sources under Title III of the Clean Water Act. The standards are technology-based (i.e. they are based on the performance of treatment and control technologies); they are not based on risk or impacts upon receiving waters.
