(Red Oak) Montgomery County Supervisor Bryant Amos says he recently found out that rural residents placing recyclables in the City dumpsters is illegal. Amos says this needs to be researched. He says many rural residents like to recycle and are in the habit of doing so.
Meanwhile, the Cities in the counties are paying a tipping fee for recyclables, which is passed on to city property taxpayers. Supervisor Alex Burton says that, historically, the funds from tipping fees have been used for a countywide cleanup.
Burton said it is the Landfill Commission that decides how the tipping fee funds should be used.
The supervisors agreed to place the discussion item on the September 15 supervisors’ meeting agenda.
