(Undated) — Americans need to get outside more to better their health. That’s the conclusion from a new survey of how long people spend with mother nature.
Dr. Jay Maddock at Texas A and M University is highlighting The American Nature and Health Surveillance survey.
Dr. Maddock says people are spending less time outdoors than they did a decade ago.
The survey of about three thousand people found 45 percent of them spent under two hours a week in nature. That number was just 25 percent back in 2016. Researchers hypothesize the drop in time outdoors over the last decade correlates to an increase in cellphone use and delivery service, resulting in more indoor time than ever.
