Heat Advisory Extended to Saturday
(Des Moines) The National Weather Service has extended the Heat Advisory from 1:00 p.m. today to 7:00 p.m. on Saturday.
Forecasters say Heat Index values will reach 105 degrees in southwest and west-central Iowa. Along with the high heat indexes, the prolonged heat and limited relief during overnight periods with warm lows have prompted the multi-day Heat Advisory. Daytime temperatures are expected to reach into the mid-90s today and tomorrow. Ninety-one on Sunday, 91 on Monday, 95 degrees on Tuesday, 90 on Wednesday, and 86 for a high on Thursday.
The eastern portion of the state is under an extreme heat warning, with heat index values reaching nearly 110 degrees.
